About this event
Bike the Des Plaines River Trail.
Meet at 8:30 am and promptly depart at 9:00 am from Half Day Forest Preserves 24255 IL-21, Vernon Hills. The entrance is on Route 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) at the light for Woodlands Parkway, south of Route 60 (Townline Road) and just north of Route 22 (Half Day Road). 1st parking lot on right. Bike either 20 or 32 miles. Trail is mostly gravel, so a hybrid bike is preferred. Terrain is varied and beautiful- shaded woodlands, native midwest prairie, Oak savanna, Serengeti grasslands, Sherwood Forest, Tall Pines Forest, Ghost Flats, and Murder Hollow. We will meet for lunch around 1:00 pm place TBD
All participants must abide by the LPSC Cycling Policies
NOTE: Bike prep assistance will be available for a half hour before each ride. Proper tire pump pressure and seat height can vastly improve the ease and speed of your biking. If you don’t have the tools, time or experience, make sure to come 30 Minutes early to each ride. TIP: Your bike tire will display the proper pump pressure. Skinny tires are in the range of 100 to 110 pounds. Cross bike tires on the range of 65 to 85 pounds. Mountain bike tires in the range of 65 pounds. We encourage everyone to come early and see our coordinator.
