LPSC Policies for Cycling during the Covid-19 Pandemic
We are glad you have decided to join us on this ride! We want every cyclist to have a great ride and a great time! However, we also want you to stay safe. You are responsible for conducting yourself in accordance with CDC recommendations, all applicable State and Local requirements in effect and best practices recommended by Ride Illinois and Evanston Bike Club. In addition, please follow these procedures and requirements. They are really just commonsense precautions to stay safe.
- Per your signed waiver, do not go on the ride if you have any Covid-19 symptoms, no matter how minor (fever, cough, runny nose, congestion, aches, sore throat, muscle fatigue).
- The event leader will make a note of everyone who is joining us as the group gathers.
- Each rider must bring a mask and must wear it whenever it is impractical to social distance. Please remember that cycling is a strenuous activity and you’ll be breathing heavily during the ride. That makes it important to stay well away from other riders. At intersections, either stop at least six feet away from the closest other rider or put on your mask.
- The event leader may require masks to be worn at all times during the ride.
- Each rider must bring hand sanitizer and is reminded to sanitize his or her hands after touching any surface out on the ride which may have been touched by members of the public.
- If you need to cough or sneeze, please use a tissue or cough or sneeze into your elbow or shirt.
- Don’t touch another rider’s cycle and don’t use his or her phone, tools, equipment or supplies. You must be self-contained if something happens during a ride.
- Refrain from shaking hands, fist bumps, high fives or close group photos.
- The ride leader may ask any rider who fails to follow these procedures to leave the ride for his or her safety and that of the other riders.
Please follow these rules and have a great ride!
